J-CAR provides the Joomla! Content Management System with the ability for its users to search, browse and display items contained in the DSpace Digital Asset Management System within a content framework. Joomla! administrators, managers and authors can now build content rich sites which include meta data and assets from digital repositories, as well as FAQs, news feeds, blogs, tutorial and more.
J-CAR uses open standards such as OAI-PMH, SRW/SRU and OpenSearch? to filter and retrieve digital assets. It includes realtime interrogation of one or more repositories, processing of assets to web ready derivatives and embedding rich media into article content.
The J-Car Suite of Joomla! extensions includes the main Joomla! Component, a search plugin for SRW/U and OpenSearch?, a plugin for rendering an asset into a page, a module for displaying related keyword searches of the current asset, and an editor button for easy syntax editing in a content item.
